Trees

Years ago my husband and I rented a house that had a huge red maple in the yard.  This nature’s gazebo truly was the redeeming feature of this rental property. When we eventually bought our first home, the only thing that saddened us, was having to leave our “kind red” behind.  It represented a place where we had our son, put down roots, found stability, and truly became a family. Thus, the Kindred series was born.

Flowers

This series of works began in the spring of 2007.  I was demonstrating to my son how to individually pull the pedals from flowers and site the verse “she loves me, she loves me not”.  My good intentions fell short with him, as he was saddened at the possibility of his landing on “not loving his Mommy”.  Inspired by his heart, I changed the verse, thus inspiring the paintings entitled “I love you, I love you, I love you unconditionally”.  The writing in this piece is about protecting our children, being inspired by their innocence, and loving them unconditionally.

Abstract

When my son Seth was two years old, I observed him painting. His ability to create paintings with strong form, line, and balance inspired me. I was invigorated with a new sense of awe into the mystery of how creation occurs. I now paint richly varied works; exploring many patterns, textures, and colours. I experiment with both geometric and organic shapes and forms to balance the piece.   Seth has maintained a creative role in my abstract work, naming each piece upon its completion.
